| The Redhead is a medium-sized diving duck. The male has large round chestnut-red head, black beast and under tail, gray body and a blue bill with dark tip. Females are uniformly brown. They eat submerged vegetation in sloughs, lakes, and marshes and feed in shallower waters than most other divers, often feeding by tipping up in very shallow water. Aquatic plants make up 90% of their diet..
